![]() ![]() (The guys also usually make this worse and I have to fix it after they leave.)!īottom is the outlet that is out (the only one). I can't get someone to come to the house since they are not considering this urgent. Other than replacing the outlet, I'm not sure what to do. There are no GFCI's blown but I reset them anyway. On the NEW switch to the fan, connect a jumper wire from the white 'hot' of the old switch to the bottom terminal of the new switch. And of course the black wire on the switch controls the 'switched half' of the receptacle. Keep in mind again that we assumed 12/2 with ground for the lines going to and from the switches, so be sure to clearly label them as hot wires by wrapping black electrical tape around the white ends. It taps to the 'red' wire which goes to the 'hot terminal' of the receptacle. All that’s left at this point is to tie together all the ground wires and neutral wires (respectively). It had a small flat screen and a roku plugged into it. Each switch then feeds either the fan (black wire) or light kit (blue wire). There is no power! One outlet is not working. I undid the wires at the fan and tested for power. The switch has power ceiling and outlet have no power still. Reset everything again and turned the power back on. Power tested at the box and I have one live wire there read 120. I got a simple, single switch with no dimmer. I reset at the breaker box and flipped the circuit. EDITED TO ADD- I was told to separate the black and red wires that are twisted and do live black to black on the switch, red to red, then red to yellow if nothing worked and cap the rest. ![]() I tried to simplify the wiring (directed by an electrician) and the fuse popped. I removed the light switch, which had a mess of wire caps and a jumper wire. I have also installed 2 down stairs and many before this, without issues. ![]() Once the connections are made, you can turn the power back on and test the fan to ensure everything is working. The fourth had a different switch and only the light turned on, the fan did not. Step 5: Test Ceiling Fan & light Operation. I installed 4 new fan's in my upstairs bedrooms. ![]()
